First anyone know a good book on rule of 3rd for shooting portraits?

Second, I would like feedback on my blog spot on my photos. Here is my website :HF Photography
Now I am a beginner and still have lots to learn but need feedback so be nice.

To add to Erose's point if you want some visual help watch some films - seriously many US films use the rule of thirds for composition a lot so you can pick up some compositional hints watching how and where they place faces in scenes.

They use the ROT for TV too.

I always have fun pointing out the catchlights in the eyes and parts of a scene that are lit, to people I'm watching a movie with.

Same here, but I've learned to play it quietly so as not to drive my wife nutso.

Never really paid much attention to that in movies (I mean, I noticed it, just didn't really care - lol), but I always notice (and count, I guess) how many aperture blades the lens has whenever there's a shot where you can tell.

Look at some examples of other people's work, that may help you.

First anyone know a good book on composition

The rule of thirds is one very Very VERY tiny part of composition. There are a lot of compositional applications such as converging lines, contrast, and strong content to grab attention and make a photograph interesting. The Rule of Thirds on the other hand is a base rule for showing one (only one of many, others such as Fibonacci divisions exist too) examples of where power points lie in an image.

I highly recommend getting "The Photographer's Eye" by Michael Freeman.

It'll open your mind and you'll never use the rule of thirds to rule your composition again.
