Fellow Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 Owners

For a couple of months now I've been going back and forth between Nikkor 24-70mm, Sigma 24-70mm and Tamron 28-75mm. I've decided to go for the Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 and so far on regrets.

I own a D90, but a part of me wishes I've gone with the 24-70mm, but whatever.

Anyone wanna share their 17-55mm experience? Photos?

Has anyone bought the 17-5mm, but decided to go for the 24-70mm or any other lens after a month or so? If so, why?

The 17-55 is a DX lens. I bet there'll be a whole lot of people making the switch to the 24-70.

Anyone with a cropped camera that's still using the 17-55mm? How about switching to the 24-70mm with the cropped camera?

I know it's not a huge difference, but I was afraid that the 24-70mm may not be wide enough. I've tried both, but not for a long time, so I stuck with the 17-55mm. Still no regret so far, despite of this thread.

It's not wide enough. Taking the crop factor into account the 24-70 basically IS a 17-55 except for full frame bodies.

I use the 28-70 f/2.8 on my film body, and as much as I drool on this lens it never comes with me on my D200 without the 18-70 in my pocket too for the wide angles.

I probably would have gone for the 17-55 but I opted for the 24-70 since I already have the 12-24.

You have a great lens. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Unless I am misinterpreting the NikonUSA.com website, the 17-35 is the FX lens and the 17-55 a DX lens.

Since I already have the 24-70 and the 70-200, the next logical choice for me is the Nikkor 12-24. It is the 2nd last piece of the D700 puzzle for me.

The 12-24mm is a DX lens. You may have meant to say the 14-24mm which is FX.

I used to use the 17-55 on my D70, and it's a phenomenal lens at 17mm, kind of lousy at 55 though.

I had to sell it off to pay rent for a couple months, but in the short time I had it, I LOVED IT TO DEATH!!!

24-70 is a really REALLY boring range on DX, and I think you made a good decision to go with the 17-55. Worse comes to worse, you can resell it for about 900 on craigslist.
