No, this is a tree face from scary stories. Hilarious.
Overall I think it received quite harsh processing with some clipping on the both ends of spectrum. Shadows maybe could be totally black, but no wooden fence will have completely white patches. But maybe this was the only way to get this "face".

Sometimes a very subtle treatment improves the overall impression. A wider shot, less contrast, people "find" the face as if the photographer had not noticed it.

Nice! I think the high contrast works for this. I might even darken around the edges some more, especially at the top.

You are exactly right, I did hammer the contrast ... but here is the SOOC:
