Fiddler not on the roof

I realize that these would probably fit better in the people forum, but they still fall under photojournalism. These are some shots I did today for the cover story of a section we run in our paper each Saturday.

The kid is a high schooler who just won some fiddle championship thing. First two shots were taken with an SB-900 high left with a skylight panel and an sb-600 low center for fill under the hat.

Last was was with the Sb-900.

After uploading them it looks like the second two could still use some work. Oh well.

On a side note, he was actually playing when all the shots were taken.

I like your work, but I'm not much of a people specialist so I can't give too much C&C

However from an laymans point of view I would just say that I like the first one best, for the lighting and the composition, because of the sense of space, it is more open than the other two. And also because of the way the hats sits, and that you can only see one eye

Reminds me of the Geico commercial. It looks like he's just posing for you. I'd try with longer exposure to capture the movement, maybe that will show more energy when he's playing.
