What's new

*** Fight Club *** Round 70 today, 2:00PM EDT

I've got to remember to restart my computer prior to playing along. I always end up with some lag error when doing this, probably because I'll open up multiple raw files to view them in a row to see which one I like better. Add that with music, the editing software doing it's thing, and the interwebz... and you have computer freak out.

Why not shoot FC in JPG?

I had the same problem. But I just started using Aperture, and I think that's my issue. For whatever reason, when it's open my computer gets pissy, something it RARELY does.

At first I couldn't see any of his, now I see two. I'll wait to vote until I can see them all.

I never shoot anything in JPG. If I shoot something I end up actually liking, I prefer to have it saved as a raw file for future use.

I also only shot 3 of these. I was doing some banking and forgot about the FC until 20 mins in so I only got 3 shot. Not feeling very creative lately.

OK, I can see Ralph's now.

Ditto, looks like we're all good!

I host from a computer at home. I think the bandwidth gets overwhelmed during the beginning of the contest when a lot of people have the thread open. As you noticed, they eventually show up. Sometimes right clicking "show picture" helps. I hope everyone can see them now.

Even for FC ... I always shoot RAW.

I might consider switching to JPG for FC though, if my LCD wasn't broken (it's been that way for a few years now ... I'm used to it). It would take me longer to figure out how to switch it to JPG than it would to just process the RAWs...lol.

I guess I think most of my FC pics aren't going to end up as anything spectacular, and if they did, most I could retake. It saves a lot of hassle not having to deal with such large files.

I always shoot raw for FC because it's quicker/easier to fix my white balance in post than it is to get it right in camera.

Shoot in jpg!? Ever? Mad woman!

As far as I'm concerned, RAM is cheap (I have 8GB), hard drive space is cheap (I have around 10TB), so there's no reason to ever shoot anything but RAW...

Were you in the hospital recently, Hannah? (The 'thing' on your wrist...)
(Is that you in the first one?)

:P Very funny. As for white balance, I can't use my good program on my computer anyway, so I pretty much have to get it right in camera. And space? Ugh. It might be cheap, but not for someone who has NO money. 10TB??? Jealous....

But you never have to worry about space again. Wedding photographer for 15 years and still have all of your pics, RAW and JPG on the computer. That would be cool.

It would be pointless buy 10 TB of space if you did not need it at the time.

Storage is very cheap though you can get 2 TB for about $150.
