I'm slowly replacing all my glass with faster stuff. Decided to get a 35-80 2.8 Nikon for my next lens. I was looking at the 24-70 but with the price difference between the two the 35-80 should do just fine.

I just ordered the 24-70. I can't freakin wait until I get it! I've been wanting it for a really long time now. I'm so impatient, the wait for it to get here is excruciating! I think my next will be a 70-200. Faster glass is definitely worth the extra dollar. I wish I was a millionaire. *Sigh*

I've never heard of the Nikon 35-80 f/2.8... I did a google search and found a 35-80 f/4-5.6 and a 35-70 f/2.8

Confused...

The 24-70 2.8 is by far one of my favorite all around lenses... Hope you get the chance to pick one up soon! :)

There is no 35-80, but there is 35-70mm f/2.8 which is quite an old lens so im unsure of which one your talking about. That 24-70mm is a beauty

sorry, I got confused. I meant the 35-70. lol......too many numbers going on in my head right now.

The 35-70/2.8 is a good lens. It's a push pull lens, which I didn't like because they tend to suck in dust. Nikon replaced the 35-70 with the 28-70, then the 24-70. I recently upgraded to the 28-70/2.8

Where you planing on buying this lens, it seems quite old so second hand would be my guess.

yup. second hand. I like it cause its small. I'm getting ready to sign a contract to shoot for a local mma gym here. part of it will be shooting there guys during fights so I need something that I can stick between the chain link fence that surrounds the "cage". also, with low light it has to be fast so thats why I decided that lens. Plus its fairly cheap, amazon has some used ones for under 500.

good glass holds value. It wasn't discontinued until 2006 from what I understand.

oh wow, looks really nice cosmetically as well. Can't wait to see some photos from it.

yea. It was a staple in Nikons lineup from 1987 untill 2006. Something must be good with it to be in production that long.

Check KEH, $500 is too much for this lens. KEH's BGN grade is $286. EX $450.

They grade conservatively. My BGN lenses would be EX anywhere else.
