Ive decided to try my hand at RAW shooting to see the advantages of it, since im new to this process any tips or advice would be most welcome, i was just wondering the basic difference between RAW and JPEG, and how RAW is beneficial and how to use it properly

A lot more control with exposure. Do a google search on editing RAWs. there's lots of info out there. Search the forums here too as the question comes up quite a lot.
