Let me start off by saying I am NOT a working professional, nor do I dabble in weddings, portraits or anything of that nature. I have had friends tell me I should try and get set up with a gallery or something, but I am not comfortable enough with my skills to even think about that at this point. With all that being said, I am a curious person by nature and I have a question. How long do you keep pictures that you have taken. I know storage is cheap these days, but surely there has to be some point where you say to yourself "I shot this event/person/whatever X amount of time ago, I don't need to keep them on my drive anymore"

Indefinitely...

Storage is cheap enough that it is now a very low concern to just keep the photos. Of course, this depends on how many you keep in the first place. I'm pretty selective so my usage is small even though I keep the processed AND raw files.

I have negatives that date back 40 years. I also have every digital photograph I've ever shot and kept. DVD's are cheap and it doesn't take long to write one. I won't dispose of any of them.
