Fill vs. Opacity

What exactly is the difference in effect between the two. I always play with it, but can never tell any difference.

While we are on the topic, I am surprised that there is not a forum section devoted to "The Digital Darkroom" :raisedbrow:

As far as I know, Opacity will effect the whole layer and its components. Fill will only affect the layer, but not its components such as stroke.

You can test my theory by making a textlayer, and giving it a stroke, and playing with the fill and the opacity individually.
