What's new

Finally ordered it! Canon 50mm f1.8

Here are two shots I did of my son in the summer of 2006, back when I still owned my Canon 50mm f/1.8 EF-II lens. These were just some casual portraits I snapped of him using my Canon 20D.

This image is exactly As-Shot using baseline Auto RAW conversion in ACR with just USM and re-sizing for the web.A single Speedotron Brown Line M11 light unit was fired through a Lastolite brand 40 inch Umbrella Box enclosed umbrella which I positioned to deliver some catchlighting in the eyes and a fairly broad shadow on the shadow side.

Amazung Picturers Derrel! You are a lucky dad!

Have fun Rausch, I have great fun with my ten 50 something lenses. I am not restricted to brand with my micro four thirds camera so I get to sample a wide variety of 50s. This is one shot with a Minolta 50/1.4 in very low light @ f2:

The 50 is a sweet lens to use as it records as the eye sees.

Congrats on the new glass!
Looking forward to seeing your shots with it. Cheers.

So after testing it out, it's not the most amazing lens I've ever used--but it was a bargain, and it does have a pretty good range of uses. Didn't really have any sparks of creativity or a great subject today, but here goes:

These last three are from a park nearby, which has a memorial for children and infants who had died shortly after birth. Every year there is an event in which families release balloons at this park in memorial of the children (also wives, mothers) that they have lost due to pregnancy complications. There are many plaques that pay tribute to sponsors, the children, and families that have been lost within this park. I will be shooting this event in late September or October.
