Finaly got a Macro Lens

I finally got myself a 1:1 Macro lens (Tamron 90mm f2.8) and man is it hard to use. the DOF is sooooo small.

Anyway I have taken a few shots today in the rain and poor light (has been raining non stop for 3 weeks now...)
and have stacked the images. The JPG web versions look crappy but trust me my 6000 x 4000 RAW are nice an clear.

Very pretty colors on that winged critter. Hope you enjoy your new lens. Macro lenses are a lot of fun, but they definitely have drawback and take much practice. You mentioned one, DOF. Another is graininess and noise. This is more noticeable in your second shot. You can compensate a bit with a lower ISO, faster shutter speed, higher fstop, or mask and gaussian blue post-process. These lenses also tend to be quite heavy, and a tripod helps. My favorite was the Nikon 40mm macro. That lens is a steal. Very light lens, easy to shoot macro handheld. Not a good choice for insect, though, because you would never be able to get close enough, but great for flowers, still life, etc.
