Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I've been lurking around a bit and have finally decided to shed some light on my shots. I covered an event for free just for the experience and the coordinator said past photographers have sold their work online, which is why I have the ridiculous watermarks.

What my main question is what would be a decent price for these to be sold for online use and for people to print themselves?

I feel very much in the same boat as MohaimenK in his thread:
http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/...5-when-do-you-begin-appreciate-your-work.html

So it's tough for me to make a price. I don't want to over price, or under sell myself.

Alas, here are some shots, full album can be found here:

Please note, I'm not the person who went out to buy an expensive camera and make a quick buck. I've been doing events free for fun and to experience what it's like to shoot as if I were professionally in the field.

Thanks for viewing, reading, and any insight you may have.

Honestly the "proof" thing is really distracting me from the pictures themselves. I understand why you have it on there, but it's very distracting.

Were there only like 7 people there? I think I'm seeing the same people in all of them.

Overall they're good shots considering your lighting conditions looked like hell. My only real "critique" is that I really don't know what the event was going off of these. There's some kids doing karaoke, a DJ spinning, some guy cutting wood and a santa that kind of looks like a hobo (no offense to him, just his facial appearance and expressions are weird). Maybe it makes more sense for someone that went, but your pictures should give someone who didn't go a good sense of what it was like to be there.

I don't mind the watermark, but it could be less intense. Having said that I think these are side issues.

On the other hand, I don't find anything much wrong with any of them. They just look standard to me. People posing before the camera and you taking them. Not that I mind; I'm just not sure what to critique about it.

Lighting is bad on all of them, but you got the faces in focus which is what matters. #5 is not really bright - could do with a bit of vivid saturation and/or contrast adjustment to make the subjects stick out a bit more.

Thanks for the help guys. I could really use some online pricing help if anyone can offer it. I've seen people selling prints at ~$2 and up, that makes sense to me based on the cost for a print, but I have no idea how to price for online use.

The event was for a Toys for Tots drive, which didn't yield the turnout we had expected :/ so yes, you are seeing the same people over and over again. It was held in a bar on a small stage, so even shooting from the other side of the room didn't get me any candid shots, the kids were hunting for me to get in the picture

The watermark is more distracting as I look at it more, I'll have to keep that in mind and make it a little more transparent in the future.

If you're going to sell these photos, I assume you've got a model release form from these people?

Another thing. If Flickr find you advertising photos for sale on its site, they'll ban your account. Just wanted to forewarn you.

I'd of course get a release form prior to sale.

Oh, that's no fun. I guess I'll have to move over to another hosting site where I can sell. Perhaps smugmug.
