Alot of people don't realize that you need to sharpen for web. Online, images tend to appear much softer than in photoshop. I also think you missed the focus in some of these. In many of them like #1 the focus fell behind him on the back of the chair. But I think they would be fine with some sharpening. #3 would be my favorite. I love the light in his eyes. I would also brighten them up a bit. I would love to have a go at one if you don't mind? I love playing around in photoshop. You have a gorgeous nephew by the way.

Sorry I got side tracked. Ok, so here was my quick go at it. When I pulled it in I noticed he had quite a bit of red in his skin so I pulled that out a tad and put a little yellow in to warm things up under color balance. I did a mid boost in curves to brighten it up. I always use that instead of the brightness tool. I pulled the left slider in on the levels adjustment, added a bit of contrast and a slight vignette. Oh and and unsharp mask as well. I like to do a little bit of everything lol.

You make my elements sound like mspaint. What does the unsharp mask do? Nice edit btw.

Thanks! Do they not have curves in elements? The unsharp mask is just what I have always used to sharpen. I'm actually not sure if there is any difference between that and other ways of sharpening. They're are so many ways to do things in photoshop and still get the same result.
