First Ever Photoshoot! C&C

I still have a lot to learn but I had a blast! I'm using a D5100 with a 90mm Tamron. This marks the first week of having my dslr.
Please don't mind the messy hair...we had gusts of 30 today.

These are mostly just portraits except for the last. Not sure what that one is doing here. First couple shots are really good. I really like #1 a lot. One major problem is that she is centered in every shot. Im not saying dont center people but when you do a spread you need to mix it up some. This could also include changing the camera orientation to portrait as well.

I quite like the first 5, the pose in 6 looks really awkward to me.

Pretty decent for your first week! The Tamron 90mm macto is an excellent prime lens to own...I have an old, beat-up one, and it's still a good shooter. I think gusty,windy shots with long-haired models are great!!! I think you ought to try more shots with the camera held in "tall mode", so that there is more "girl" and less "background" in the images. I mean the blonde has a pretty dress on, and she and her outfit are far,far,far more interesting than the out-of-focus background stuff is. shot #1 for example, man--I wish that had been framed as a "tall"!

The last image for example...it's framed as a tall, and so we can see "her"...her pretty hair, her attractive slim figure, and her really cute, stylish short-shorts...if that same shot had been framed as a wide, we would be able to see, well, not much. Anyway...good shootin for your first week in d-slr land! Keep at it!

They all look a little soft. As far as what you have shot, I like them, as DiskoJoe mentioned mixing up the positioning of the model would make a difference. Just keep at it, looks like you're on the right track.

It's definatly better then my first photoshoot. so keep at it, and as said, do some more portrait orientation shots. Dissapointing to see the bottom of her kick ass hair cut off by the frame.

Yeah that other you posted in blah. Just keep our suggestions in mind for next time. Do find some better locations. This girl would do well in a more urban environment. I always like to mix gritty and pretty together.

I really like the close up ones, the first one is gorgeous! I agree that switching up the orientation and not centering them all will make a big difference. Also, as a personal preference, I don't like that shiny pink dress in that field with those white houses. Sometimes it's good to have a lot of contrast between the feel of the subject and the setting, but this isn't glam/striking enough to strongly contrast the prairie look and not "natural" enough to blend in. But, like I said, that's just a preference of mine.
