First Flash: SB-28

I have a friend who is selling an SB-28 that is in very good condition for $100. Is this a good deal? We haven't really ventured into portraits, just nature and landscapes. Would the be a good deal to get this as our first flash or should we look into something else?

Why would you need it for landscapes and nature? Look at a good filter then.

No, wouldn't use it for that.....just have NO experience with portraits and we are interested in getting into them but have no experience with any flashes except the one on our D40

I would get it...it's a good flash for strobist use.
