After watching a bunch of videos on editing, it seems the technique "Frequency Separations" is the way to go when it comes to editing portraits.

I love Phlern tutorials! I also like this method/approach for skin retouching. It really looks the most natural IMO.

That's actually my fiancé. She wasn't to thrilled about taking pictures, as I wanted to try out some different lighting techniques

yeah, it shows that she wasn't trilled

she has a very interesting face and her hair color is great (for the past 17 years I have red color) you can do wanders with her as a subject. Impress her and she'll be willing to pose you

I have a couple of her smile and laughing, but those came out very unflattering as I kept messing with the lights.
