I just thought I'd post that despite all this D800 talk. There is still a release of a very exciting portrait lens from Nikon on the way..I have always felt the Canon 85 1.8 was a better lens in some respects than the Nikon 85 1.8 equivalent. For a start, I bought this lens and quickly returned it due to the choppy 'bokeh' it was producing.
I hoped this new lens would address these issues and it would seem maybe it has.. I will be getting one when I get a D700 as a portrait lens potentially. I'm thinking it may be a good rival to the Sigma 85 1.4 and Nikon 85 1.4 AFS-G, I will look forward to seeing how it stands against these two lenses, it only has 7 aperture blades compared to 9, but as we all know the number of aperture blades is not the only factor in producing great bokeh. The samples look quite hot!
