    I know it would have been so helpful to have another flash to use OC and also a reflector for the shadows the sun casted

    Local friend of mine wants to pursue modeling and I figured it would help me get a start into the long battle and struggle I will face while shooting models..

    yoru flash is HARSH! how did you shoot it? She should have have been farther from the background.. you have bad shadows.

    Probably.. but with the shadows more to the left .. I am not sure. It looks more like bare OC flash camera right

    My SB-700 was on the camera. Unfortunately I haven't invested in light stands, or wireless triggers.. I will shortly.

    Why not use your d7000 in commander mode ?

    That is an option.. although I don't like using it in bright daylight.. can be flaky! Hence my PW's! :)

    Get one. They are pretty inexpensive. The better the stand, the more expensive they are but you can find some for cheap. They might not break down as small but they will get the job done.

    any recommendation? I'm assuming a pack of two would be nice. I'll have to hunt for 2 light stands, and 2 modifiers.

    A note on the posing: try to avoid locked elbows. Google "Benji's 40 rules of portraiture" to give you a sense of traditional posing. Then YouTube posing for models.
