yes I agree with reg, but don't worry, you just got started, and you will get the hang things, and the feeling of your camera's settings before you know it. I too have a D40 and I love it, and you will too. Try to learn all you can on here, ask alot of questions, because plenty of people like helping the new guys. You will be producing beautiful pictures in no time. The bee would've been a cool shot, if it was in focus, and maybe a little more zoomed in (you may have to take a step closer...if that is ok with you!) Learn how to use apperture priority mode. That is what I'm still using, and is a great way to get used to manual settings, and you will get better pictures. Have fun above all!
