My First Concert Shots – Composition & Emotion

Hello everyone! Hope you're all ok.

These are the first images I've shared here. I took them during the Traditional Festival of Our Lady of Remedies in Montalvão, a small village in Alentejo, Portugal.
Unfortunately, my Canon 450D had a full memory card, but I didn't want to miss these colours, so I took my wife's Samsung A52 and tried to compose a few shots of the band.
I don't think I could get results like these with my camera yet , because I am a begginer, but I really like how they turned out, even though the phone did all the technical work.
Since the only things I was intentionally trying to control were the composition and capturing some emotion and atmosphere, I'd really like to know what you think.
On the photo of the singer, I know we're supposed to leave some negative space in the direction he is looking or moving. But in front of him was just visual garbage so I placed him very close to the edge of the frame. I was trying to create the feeling that he could jump into the public.

Hmm...let's see. The first thing that comes to mind is the lighting, which is notoriously bad at concerts, many times. Here it seems the lighting is behind the band versus in front them. Consequently the band members are not well illuminated. This makes it very difficult for you to get properly exposed shots. I find it best to get closer shots...from the waist up if you can, and you did pretty well there. Your composition is not bad, and the members are showing they are having a good time, but the lighting doesn't do these shots any favor. Perhaps on your next concert shoot the lighting will be more from the front and you can get some better exposure, thus better detail and less grain etc.

Concert lighting is like the weather--unpredictable and uncontrollable. From the top, it's #1, 3-4 for me. Appreciate the camera limitations but, still, you caught a nice series. Unsure how much editing affected these. Usually a little contrast boost can add sharpness. I'll unashamedly fave the drummer shot--huge potential for a great image after some serious editing. Thanks for posting!
