Thanks! That's what I was playing around with mainly.

Anyone have any CC on these? I'd really appreciate it!

OK....... here goes.

1. Aim a little higher.... put the bobber at the intersection of the two rule-of-thirds line.

2. Kinda plain.... subject is centered.

3. Subject is nearly centered..... again, put it at the intersection of the two rule-of-thirds line..... not that a coffin nail is very photogenic.

4. Smashing composition! Maybe add a bit more DOF so the entire cleat is in focus.

5. I'm with Ron on this one...... it's well-done, and one that many would miss.

6. Maybe a bit more DOF... I dunno, maybe it's just me.

7. Nothing fancy.... I would file it under my /Patterns/Nature/Plants & leaves folder.

8. You're 99% there with this one! Move closer, and put the dock at 'the intersection'. The arch in the tree will stretch across the space above it, and the trees to the right will disappear.

(Sorry, I just had to edit that one!)

9. Nice colors, but the patches on the road and the power poles kill it for me.

Thanks so much! When I went out this time I really tried to pay attention to the rule of thirds. I'll keep working on it! What's an easy way to know where to position objects using the focus points on the camera? Should I put the CENTER of the dock at the two intersections?

Not necessarily dead center of the intersection, but closer to it. The dock is such a visually large object that it can slide around the area a bit and not affect tie overall comp. too much. It helps if your camera can impress the ROT grid in your viewfinder.

Ahhhhh thats what i was missing lol. Thanks!
