First time out with the G1 X, new to photography!

Hey!
Went out early this morning and took a couple of shots in the snowy morning mist...I then edited them in adobe light room.
Since I'm totally new to photography I'd appreciate if you would leave a comment, what you think, how to improve, settings etc.

The first one is the original and the second one is the edited version, for you to see the differences...

Also I'm wondering, the photos gets so much sharper and crispier when edited in light room compared to the original photo, is this always the case or is it just me because I do not master the settings of the camera yet? I'm still trying to learn how the camera works.
