First time posting here....

I was playing around with my camera yesterday trying to catch birds in flight when I saw these little friends. Seemed like they spotted something in a tree. I thought this photo turned out pretty well, what do you all think?

Shot with my Canon 450D + Tamron SP VC Di 70-300.
At 1/200 sec, f/6.3, ISO 200, and zoomed in at 228mm.

Without seeing their faces or the object of their attention, it's hard for me to connect emotionally with this photo.

I thought the photo had something, just by the way they were looking at the same direction and their flip-flops.
Clearly shows that I'm new to people-photography.

Love them both. Makes me wonder what they are looking at. First thing that came to my mind was a plane. Love that smile in #2.

I like them both too. Adorable kids too. I'm a newbie too, but maybe just a touch of post-processing for some color pop?

@ Jaxx419; it wasn't a plane, pretty much 0% chance seeing a plane around here. Haven't seen one in many months. I think that it was some little bird that they want for supper.

I like #1 as a conceptual photograph. The simple repetition of the head i nice. I like it.

Dave, that's exactly why I liked the photo. The similar position of their heads, outfit etc.

I like the second shot a lot more, though I am not keen on the angle in which is was shot. I agree that color pop is neccessary. I kind of make it a general rule to not shoot the back of someone's head unless it's an artsy fartsy kind of shot. In this case, it's more photojournalistic, so the back of the heads didn't really work for me.

I looked it up and saw that photoshop costs $699... It that really true?? It seams crazy, really really crazy. There is no way that I'm going to have that pocket-change... unless I sell my motorcycle... No way... Never.

If your a student/teacher you can get a discount - I think I paid 200.00 for photoshop. Lightroom is pretty amazing an costs around 200.00 (I think) - less with a student discount. Photoshop elements is under 100.00 and will probably be more then you'll ever need.

Gimp - is free and is similar to photoshop
