nice shots for a first try? what lens are you using, it seems like the longer the better

D50 with an AF 70-300mm F4-5.6G

They both look a little over-exposed, especially the bottom one. Reducing the length of the exposure by ~1/3 should help you bring out detail in the lunar highlands around Tycho crater (around the 4:30 position).

First time eh? you wouldn't want to see my first time shooting the moon lol. I like the first The color and the contrast are beautiful. Astro is right: it is a little over-exposed but its a wonderful start!! Keep it up and most of all, keep shooting!

Nice shots. Those are way better than my first, second, third ... and so on, shots of the moon. I had a bit of a focus issue. I blame the moon.
