First try at photographing birds

This was my first official day out specifically trying to shoot birds. I am not sure on the species, maybe a kestrel??? Anyway looking for CC and help on anything you see fit. It was a lot more challenging than I thought, but it was a lot of fun. Thanks in advance.

Its a good crisp shot, I think I would have cropped it tighter along the same lines of composition you did. I try to shoot the birds from the front as often as possible.

You have yourself a beautiful American Kestrel. Pretty good for a first attempt at birds. Birds are a blast to try and photograph.
