First waterfall shot

Really really nice. The center is a little bright, maybe dial it back just a tad.

mho, overexposed and overblown highlights.

For the first time, not bad :)

You can try to back off in pp and that would give you more pleasing result overall but that blown blob of water can be fixed just with reshoot and proper exposure.

So my comment would be to go there again and reshoot. Do you use any filters?

Agree with the others - a lot of the water in the falls is blown out. Sometimes it can be fixed in post, but not always. If you tell us what you used, maybe someone can give you some advice on how to better capture these types of situations - camera, lens, how long was your exposure, f-stop, shutter speed, ISO, did you use any ND filters, tripod, etc?

I practically grew up on Lake Cumberland... miss that beautiful scenery!

Live 50 miles away. Been here 12years, still on my to do list.

Polarized filter might help but you can definitely fix it during Post Processing... Personally, I would back up a little or zoom out a little, it looks like you cut off part of the lower waterfall at the bottom left of the pix... Need a little work on composition...

D5100 with CPL
18mm. ISO 100. f/22. 1.5.

I got as close to the edge as I could hoping my lens would be wide enough to capture everything, but I didn't have much time to compose because the park ranger nearly kicked me out for hopping the rail and getting too close...oops.

I'll go back sometime and spend more time composing. Thanks for the feedback.

Holy blown highlights batman!

Without pulling the image into PS, it looks like a majority of the falls is 255 across the board. No amount of post processing is gonna fix that. A polarizing filter (and I presume you mean a CPL) will help slightly by cutting the exposure about 1-1/2 stops, but a ND (Neutral Density) filter would be a better bet. A CPL will enhance the greens and blues of the scene and a ND will stop down the exposure by whatever factor the ND is rated at. A 3-stop ND is always handy to have in the bag.
