First week

My first week taking photos with a Pentax ist DS I tried Pan and Shoot, Waterfall Shots, Sunsets and Nature. This is my favorite because when you zoom into the water droplet you can see the tree. Don't know if its under or over exposed though etc. Cheers

Not bad. It seems a tad underexposed and your POI is centered in the frame. Also, I'm going out on a limb on this, but I'm assuming that you want the tip of the leaf to be the POI and thus, the most in focus. Yet, it seems as if the center of the leaf is the most in focus. Fix these, and this shot has a lot more potential. I really like all the contrasting colors and the idea behind the shot, but there are some minor flaws. For your first week, I'd say not bad.

definitely not bad for a starter, but as jmtonkin said, you want your point of focus to be on the water droplet. It is underexposed so I would pull the ISO up or lower your aperture number. If you have a tripod, you should use it and take a longer exposure. The colors are very nice though!

I think its a bit bland... colorwise. But I think thats just my eyes.

Bus Rider had suggested tweaking my image earlier so I opened Photoshop and gave it a go. Auto Levels, Auto Contrast, Auto Color, Filter:sharpen with pretty much the same results that he had.
