The highlights in the water are amazing. The detail less leaf is a little rough.

Doesn't really look like anything to me. Sort of like you put the water in photoshop and erased a white line in it. There really isn't much of a subject, and composition wise the white thing is pretty much in the center which takes away as well. Keep practicing!!!

Yeah, I am not sure it is a leaf. I neglected to mention that I also like the motion of the water.

Yep it's a leaf!

I tried to restore some detail into the leaf but alas was unable to because it was totally blown out.

I still found it an interesting pic though. Kind of calming in a way. I really like the colours in the water.

Anyway this was the oringal pic. Thanks for your comments, any idea's on how I might bring some texture and detail to the leaf? Maybe I should go and shoot a new leaf and drop it into the picture?

Keep practising...you needed to take this shot with slightly less angle to get more of the leaf. The leaf's blown out because your camera has metered off the water. Good subject and nice try. Go back and give it another shot!

Mind you, I love the water. Go and shoot a leaf and cut and paste it in (if you can - trick is, I would make it a little too dark rather than crisp and clean - won't suit the image otherwise).
