I think you took these a few minutes too late. Next time I would either (1) take it a little bit earlier or get in a spot where you have an interesting foreground and do 2 exposures

Here is an example of a sunset horizon along the lower ~1/3 horizontal plane, and the sun placed at one of the traditional "rule of thirds" subject areas along the right 1/3 vertical plane... but it would look about the same with the sun in the middle of the horizontal plane.. (ignore the noise...just a quick example crop from a larger landscape)
