The rice harvest season is over, so the farmers fry the fields and plant this particular type of flower in it to replenish the land with fertilizers. When the plants are mature(1~2 months), they will plow the field over. The plants then become nutrient for the next batch of rice crops.

1 and 2 are great, but in my opinion the HDR / Orton, effect or whatever processing you did detracts, from them. My eyes yearn for sharp focus throughout, but the processing has made it a tad too fuzzy.
