The second picture is good, but in the first one, the woman sitting next to the girl is very distracting and the lighting gives a washed out tone on her skin.

i think the white dress of the girl is a very nice contrast for the picture
i think the softness of the second portrait also creates this intimate feeling
however, i feel as though the sharpness of the photograph could also gives something a bit more
i think the composotion in the first one could have been more carefuly done
so that the viewer could see her foot, and her arm not hidden behind the chair
and in terms of the background, also a potential focus on the girl could have that eliminated that situation
