This one works much better IMO, because even though I'm NOT fond of longitudal crops on limbs, it's clear that it was a deliberate decision, whereas in the original, it look more like you weren't paying attention and just 'knocked off' her elbows.

I deliberately left her elbows right into the corners to fill the frame.
Everyone has a different perspective i suppose but fair comment.

I like the first one but I think there are three things that hurt it.
First leaving all that space at the top to include the entire hat leaves an unsightly gap at the top left and gives the hat too much importance. A crop moves her eyes up, reduces the gap and the importance of the hat.
Her hands, arms and throat are lighter than her face, thus drawing attention
Last, although there seems to be an attempt to make this picture symmetrical, her arm placement differs so the triangle on the right is wider than the left; more pleasing but wider.

I tried to include as much of the hat as possible without bringing too much of the background into the picture whilst attempting to retain a decent degree of symmetry.
It was a tricky balancing act and compromises were made to try to find a happy medium.
I do however like your crop of the top part of the image and it does give more balance even if its at the expense of leaving out some of the lovely hat.

I like the first one. Well, I like her.....not crazy about the flower headdress thingy. The second one I like too but she looks almost frightened.

Frightened....really ?
Suprised i would suggest.
It was just a natural expression from the model which i really like.
