I haven't taken too many flower shots, but tell me what i can do to improve

do you think it might just be the sharpness of the lens? i have a canon 50mm 1.8 coming soon so maybe that will help with flower pics

But I think this photo could do with a bump in saturation.

Yeap, but keep the "almost B&W" background untouched, it gives a nice contrast.

I agree with the saturation. The background I like a lot but I think the flower could do with a bit more yellow. How does it look from a slightly more head on view?
