At my university, there was this one building that pretty much overlooked the airport. I'd always try to get there early for class, so I could watch the planes take off..

I had a job interview once at a company who's officers overlooked one of the main runways at Dulles - the approach end of runway 30 if I'm not mistaken. Most of the people I talked to had their desks arranged so they faced AWAY from the window. I had to frequently remind myself to ignore what was going on outside and focus on the person I was talking to.

One gentleman I talked to had a scanner in his office. His daughter was a pilot for United, and he said she would sometimes say "Bye, Pop" as she took off whenever she was in town.
