Thanks, I'm not really a macro photographer, I shoot everything hand held and seldom if ever use a tripod. I use a Nikon D7000 with 105mm micro Nikkor with the Nikon R1C1 flash kit set 1:1, ISO at 100, lens set to f/22 and the auto focus on single point and continuous. I lay the focus dot on the place I want to be the main point of focus, in this case the eyes, and snap away. I then sharpen and crop the heck out of it in PP.

Nice shot! I shoot that way too, sort of, except No AF.. manual focus only.

I've tried both ways. AF in single/continuous works best for me as it will adjust to slight back and forth movement.
