Focus Stack fail

So close!! missed one slice of DOF focus area that would have made this image awesome.
This is composed of 8 slices... should have been 10

I hate it when that happens

When I can I do tend to try and get a single "keeper" shot when I focus stack - that is a shot (normally taken at the start) which is "good" from a single exposure. Then I get on with the task of focus stacking - the single keeper being good if I miss out a frame or if the subject decides to move (or if wind blows hairs or any other distraction occurs).

Nervine - head out at dawn or right after rainfall. Insects are cold blooded and when they get cold they slow down more and more - especially bigger insects. As a result you can often find them in a very torpid state where they are unable to move much if at all. Dawn is also a good time as wind is naturally quite still (most of the time).

Thank you Overread. Just heading into Autumn here in Australia so getting quite cold longer in the mornings.
