foggy christmas morning

Hi all,

I had a wonderful experience Christmas morning ... been getting less sleep lately, so I was in a kind of half-dream state. Weather was foggy and moody, and I walked out just as the sun rose. It was simply beautiful.

I tried to capture that ephemeral quality - lightly accentuating warmth of the sunrise, the reflected highlights, and fog hugging the trees in the distance ... thoughts are welcome. Is the light around the power line in the distance a bit much? Seems a bit halo-ish to me at the moment - I might tone it down.

This is a nice image. I like the light around the tower as it gives the viewer's eye something to converge on.

Great light. I find the power lines and tower to be totally distracting me from the beautiful landscape along the road and the gorgeously fogged background. Probably too much to clone it all out but if you just put your finger over that tower and then you really see what the rest of the shot could be.

This is typically my opinion as well, but it seems to work in this image better than in most.

Yeah, I was carrying around a single 24-70 mm, so I couldn't quite zoom in enough to just get the interesting background fog

Ended up trying to work with the subject I was given, so I just added more lines to accentuate the ones that were already there.

Usually power lines/towers just kill a shot, but the accentuated light around the tower actually makes it work for me.
