Another spotted Towhee

VERY nice! Really shows the difference between this and the Eastern Towhee, which is what we have here. I'm fortunate to have several of the Eastern Towhees in my yard, including two females. But I've never been far enough north to see a Spotted (well, not since getting interested in birds enough to notice one, anyway).

Nice. I can almost honestly say that these are my favorite so called normal every day birds. Before a couple of years ago, I had no idea they existed. I've probably seen them hundreds of times and heard them more than that.

They respond very well to bird calls from my phone. ;)

Stellar's Jays, Black Squirrels and Spotted Towhees - I'm starting to not like you

Thanks folks. My only wish for these and hundreds of other backyard photos is that I could somehow lose or at least reduce the impact of fences and other man made objects.

p.s. Bird calls? Phone? Tell me more.

iBird Pro (available for iPhone AND Android, despite the "Apple" sounding name...)

Audubon Birds app

Both are really good and I use them both. I *tend* to like the sounds better on iBird.

I use it VERY sparingly, but sometimes it can be a good way to get a better look at a particularly shy bird. I used iBird to get this shy little Pine Warbler to come down out of the tall pines where I could get a good look at him:

Wifey uses iBird also on her Iphone, but is does not loop the songs or she has not figured it out. I followed this method since I like to tinker the entire video is informative, but the bird call part is at approx. the 10 minute mark.
