freezing your collective arses off...this is how my day went as soon as the sun came out...of course tomorrow will also be sunny, but instead of the mid 70's it will be to mid 50's.

That looks like fun but I don't have any desire to live there anymore. I lived in Ft Myers for a little over 3 years and don't miss anything. I found out that even living next to a beach isn't enough for me to get over my hatred for stifling humidity

Well, I am SOUTH of the Mason-Dixon--born here, raised here and I was created for stifling humidity!
Every year, I seriously wonder whether I can make it through another winter--even though ours here in East TN are more like early fall up north, most of the time.

But truly--I'm never sure if I'm gonna make it until finally, that glorious, wonderful day arrives--the first day of spring!! And then the redbuds, the hyacinth, the Japanese magnolia all burst forth in spectacular colors--as they did last week-- and I know that I will live to experience warm weather again!

Only now: It is just snowing to beat the band here, and while it's nothing like parts of the midwest have gotten hit with--IT'S STILL SNOW, Dagnabit, and that is just NOT OKAY!!

I think I'm gonna have to hurt something.

It's snowing here too, although despite heavy snow all morning there's only a very small amount sticking to the grass. They were predicting an inch or two of accumulation, but I doubt there'll be any on the streets. I'm tired of it - yes, we get late March snowfall sometimes, even with accumulation on occasion, but it's just been so cold and damp so many days lately it doesn't seem like Spring is getting here. Then one day suddenly it will be 80 and we'll complain about that ...

What...the occasional alligator, anaconda (yeah, we have them now, too), a shark, barracuda, water moccasin and who knows what else...still better than some jerkwad spining his car into you because after 50 years of living in or near the arctic circle, he still doeen't know what black ice is...or shoveling for two hours to get your drive clear long enough to get to the grocer only to discover you were last and there's only canned pork & beans left..and of course it snows again that night and you get to do it again in the morning...nah, I'll brave the bitey things.

Just as an aside, at the suggestion of others, I reworked this image for greater visual impact: What do you think?

I liked both versions; the crop is probably better composition-wise, but I personally liked all that water. I love the backdrop too - all moldy wood, great texture - so Southern! :love:

Eh. You need an eye, preferably belonging to a specimen that your avatar shows, peering at you between the wood walls. And of a size approximately equal to your boat. :greenpbl:

As for living in the south - I like the idea.... until we get to the summer weather, and life would not be possible without AC. While I do admit that frying eggs on the top of one's car in the morning may be convenient, I prefer to do it the old-fashioned way, and have my breakfast in my tummy before I leave the house. While boating in my area, at least the long dark thing floating in the water is most likely a log, whereas in your area it has teeth and an unpredictable disposition. I can out-paddle a log. I'm not so sure about alligators.
