I always ranked this with the classic peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches, and mac and cheese dishes you serve to kids.

But I've had a lot of people comment to me on how weird it is that I put some cheesie poofs in my tomato soup.

I mean I always thought everyone did it, at least as a kid...now I found out that my wife had never done it either, until she met me.

For real? You're missing out..I wouldn't touch tomato soup with no cheesie poofs!

Haha! I shoulda gotten clued in when I started lathering peanut butter on my pancakes and she gives me the "WTH are you doing?" look. I haven't converted her to that yet, but she loves the cheesie poofs in her tomater soup.

You know what made my childhood awesome? Koala Yummies! Especially the chocolate filled ones. (This was before everyone discovered how awful they were!)

I grew up on Frito Pie... it was a pretty common snack / kid meal in Texas. I simply assumed everyone knew what it was until I moved up here to New Joisey.

Well that and Sloppy Joes! I was totally and utterly disappointed the first time I ordered one at a local NJ diner. Apparently, Jersey has a completely different notion of a Sloppy Joe. I order it though... I like it both styles

As for the cheese puffs... Now I've got to try some on my soup! Loved that stuff but never thought about using it as a tomato soup topper.

The frito pie looks yummy...but coleslaw ruins everything IMO!!! yick.

I think I'd be severely disappointed if I ordered a sloppy joe and got that!

Kinda like a Cheeto but fluffier.... lighter. Pretty much a bunch of manufactured goodness... comprising of powdered artificial cheese, yellow coloring, artificial additives and soy based filler. mmmmmmmmmm....


btw.. you in Jersey too. We are one of the leading states in the manufacturer of artificial flavorings and food additives. Whoooohoo!! I used to drive past Nabisco and various other food manufacturers to and from work. You can roll down the windows and smell the goodness in the air. Sometimes, smells like cheese nips....... or roasted coffee in the air.


Try out the frito pie.... I don't even bother with a bowl at times. Open bag, pour in chili (I like meat and beans), top a little cheddar, and a few slices of jalapinos ("Hot peppers" for us in Jersey).

There's many different names for a cheesie poof.

I think your exaggeration comes from people putting lots of cheese on things that cheese typically goes on, and not that we put cheese on everything.

Ah ok, like a big puffy cheeto. I don't like tomato soup but I'll suggest it to my husband. Oh and the cheese comment came from a foreign friend of ours. It got me to thinking, yeah we put cheese on a lot of food!
