No, this aint a thread showing some semi-dressed spunky firemen or the like ...although I can show you those later ;)

Just had a little reminder yesterday about how important it is for us to have regular pap smears, no matter how young, healthy and superwoman-like we think we are ...

A girl I know here in Canada went for a pap smear about a month ago and the results came back showing something was not quite right. So she went in for a biopsy last Monday and the docs found cancerous cells....

Luckily for her, this has been discovered in its early stages and the doctors will be able to operate and remove it. To look at her, she is a healthy, fit young woman of 26, recently engaged and with the world at her feet....

A lot of us are ambivalent about pap smears and breast checks because we think " Nahhh we'll be right. This stuff happens to older women etc ...." and we relax about getting checked.

Sooooo, girls, just reminding ya how important these tests are .... look after yourselves ok :hugs:

A friend sent me this a while ago...

On Mammograms

This is hysterical! Make sure you read the whole thing...

This is a cute way to send "the message"!
There is a serious message at the end, but you get to laugh on the way there.
Now go out and have your mammies grammed!

For years and years they told me,
Be careful of your breasts.
Don't ever squeeze or bruise them.
And give them monthly tests.

So I heeded all their warnings,
And protected them by law.
Guarded them very carefully,
And I always wore my bra.

After 30 years of astute care,
My gyno, Dr. Pruitt,
Said I should get a Mammogram
"O.K," I said, "let's do it."

"Stand up here real close" she said,
(She got my boob in line),
"And tell me when it hurts," she said,
"Ah yes! Right there, that's fine."

She stepped upon a pedal,
I could not believe my eyes!
A plastic plate came slamming down,
My hooter's in a vise!

My skin was stretched and mangled,
From underneath my chin.
My poor boob was being squashed,
To Swedish Pancake thin.

Excruciating pain I felt,
Within it's vise-like grip.
A prisoner in this vicious thing,
My poor defenseless tit!

"Take a deep breath" she said to me,
Who does she think she's kidding?!?
My chest is mashed in her machine,
And woozy I am getting.

"There, that's good," I heard her say,
(The room was slowly swaying.)
"Now, let's have a go at the other one."
Have mercy, I was praying.

It squeezed me from both up and down,
It squeezed me from both sides.
I'll bet SHE'S never had this done,
To HER tender little hide.

Next time that they make me do this,
I will request a blindfold.
I have no wish to see again,
My knockers getting steam rolled.

If I had no problem when I came in,
I surely have one now.
If there had been a cyst in there,
It would have gone "ker-pow!"

This machine was created by a man,
Of this, I have no doubt.
I'd like to stick his balls in there,
And see how THEY come out!

I've checked my bits so few times that if something was wrong down there it would be too late by the time I noticed. Girls get it hammered into them from an early age, boys don't. I've no idea why. It takes two second in the morning, so why don't I ever remember?

 taken out of context once again...ferny is such a bad bad boy.

Bit worried that I should post here as maybe im too young...but I think it is just as important for a guy aswell, and I believe they should have a test before the first time they have sex, because it doesnt need that to cause trouble...but its still very very scary for me to think of going and doing that, and not sure I could....

i tried to do that last wednesday but i have to wait a year...grr...i wanna do it now before i start working again and get lazy :(

Well. You just scared the **** out of me!

That wasnt a nice errmm poem? I am a bit petrified to get checked now... I think I'll just be one of the naive ones...

(and if worst comes to worst, they can have the damn things - they just get in the way!)
