Sweet black and white...all the tones are there. Usually I'm not a fan of leaving huge blank spaces, but in a case like this, it works, if not necessary. Come to think of it, this image may work better as a straight vertical with some good detail, have you checked?

Oh jeeze...sorry it was the picture view on my iPad....black on a black backgound. This a great Georgia O"Keeffeish image...I totally approve!!

Haha, no prob! My iPad does that too so I know exactly what you are saying.

Thanks! The peace lily is one of my favorites. I like how you can still see the bumps on the single petal after it opens.

I'll do you one better...the bumps are off the hook. They are the deliverers of all the amazing tones that make this image a great black and white. The think that does it for me is the main subject...the pistil (if that is the right word)....the tones work perfectly to yield to the background which finishes off this picture. I think it's compositionally complete....hard to get with such a simple image as this. It is almost abstract...O'Keeffeish...or whatever. That is the thing with her stuff that you touched on here...simple compositions that draw a lot of feeling......yadda yadda....you know

They are like birthmarks.

It is either a pistol or style. Maybe both--I think they are terms for different parts of the same structure. In general, I prefer simple compositions. I also like space--it is like a metaphor for the imagination. The viewer has to fill in some of the blanks with either images or thoughts. Of course, it is a fine line between too much and just enough.
