What I found, in both renditions was a loss of midtone contrast. I had to use a midtone luminosity mask to regain the mids, then added a touch of contrast and finishing in Silver Efex Pro with a red filter bumped up to 17%. I added a sky because in your HDR rendition, you blew out the sky.
To get the color version to match the B&W, I copied the BW image and dropped it atop the color version, then changed the mode to Luminosity. If you don't have SE2 Pro, you can use the color adj tool in PS, adjusting contrast etc., flatten and use the same layering technique.
