Freestyle Dirt Bikes at the Bangor Fair

This one was tougher for me today than my other sets. It was at dark. I culled through and found a few that I think are presentable. Let me know your thoughts for my first time shooting such things.

Wow I could only imagine how hard it was to capture a good shoot! What camera and lens did you use for this?

It was. Between the pitch black, terribly placed spotlights, and not quite enough reach for my flash (until I moved), and idiots that kept getting in my way, I was afraid I would not get any. lol.

I used a Nikon D90 and Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 (the old beast from the early 90's ;-) No VR )

I shot with spot metering, various focal lengths, all with AF-C I missed a lot, but when I paid attention and panned correctly, they came out nice and well enough focused for the conditions.

Your depth of field looks a little shallow on some of the shots. Otherwise, these shots are pretty cool.

Yeah, given the lack of light I had to shoot wide open, already had iso jacked up more than I wanted to. I'd like to try this out again in daylight hours for sure. Action shots seem to excite me lately.
