Could somebody tell me which picture looks better? Or are they the same? My friend says #1 looks better but I am having a very hard time telling the difference... Tell me what you guys think!

#1

i am speaking in terms of composition, not in terms of sharpness, color, etc...

The second. There is more space between the dancers and the edges of the frame. The first feels a bit more claustrophobic.

DOF is better in #2, which is the one I prefer simply from composition point of view, it makes the performers stand out a little more...

I know you weren't looking for these things but:
the vingnetting in #1 bothers me, the noise in #1 also bothers me

like the placement of #2 better. but there's also a pole growing out of her head and out of his knee.

The big problem with the first is that the umbrella tip is right on (or over?) the edge of the frame.

I like the composition of 2 better. as previously mentioned, the umbrella is not touching the edge of the frame like in the first. I know its not what your looking for but i will add that i do prefer the color of the first one better though.

2nd one is better, busy background otherwise it's a great shot.

Purely in terms of composition, there's not much difference--#2 strikes me as a little better, but those poles sticking out of her head and his leg are very distracting. HOWEVER...imo, you really can't JUDGE between them purely on composition. The exposure, focus and colors are all better in #1, and those things affect how I view the whole photo. Given that both photos are VERY similar compositionally, the other factors seem more important. But, that's just my 1.075 cents' worth.

The second one is much better. However, background is a little bit distracting. Maybe some Lens Blur in PS to give it more "pro" look?

I also think that the white balance is a little bit too warm, but that's just how I like my photos to be. If you like yours that warm, that's cool.
