The European Bison is the smaller cousin of the North American Bison. Back in the 1920's the European Bison were hunted nearly to extinction. Today they are making a comeback with over 5000 animals now. North American Bison are now plentiful enough that you can buy Bison meat at the super market.

If they're anything like the ones in America, be very careful! I saw one bashing a car in Yellowstone. It was probably some idiot tourist trying get too close.
