The last shot of the melon is the only decent shot.

I shoot a fair amount of skateboard and BMX and its all about the angles, light, and shutter speed. Next time try getting some tighter comps but not so tight that you lose perspective of what the rider is doing, where they are coming from, and where they are going.

The action is there but it is completely lost in the busy backgrounds, photos need a tighter crop, way too loose. Longer lens or get alot closer.

Yeah I could definitely use more light, all I have is my sb800. Need to invest into more lighting equipment . It's funny I posted some older bmx shots I took a while ago on a bmx forum that had a section for photographers and a lot of the photos were cropped and the people complained that I didn't show enough background or what the rider was actually doing. So this time I did a little less cropping so the viewer could see ramps and what not, and now everyone here wants less crop with more rider and light, haha. Thanks for the tips though!

i shoot mainly bmx photography, you want perspective, we want to see where the rider came from and were they are going, as well as the trick. stay away from using a wide angle lens for bmx, i usually shoot 50mm on a crop sensor. number one shows the most area, try getting less ceiling and more ground next time.

It was a really long time ago when I first started shooting bmx stuff. I believe it was on thecomeup
