lightning was pretty low light... 8 something PM + street lights, 800 ISO + 2.0 + 1/50th or 1/100th

You should be able to shoot handheld down to 1/30th. There's no reason to shoot at that ISO.

It's a double-edged sword. Sometimes it's nice to get grain below ISO800. Another one of the joys of shooting film. Grain in and of itself can be appealing. There are usually trade-offs at that speed, such as naturally increased contrast and loss of detail in shadows and highlights. Those aren't always appealing.

I'm afraid I can't... 1/50th with a 50mm lens is already nearly too slow for me...

Anyways, as you said in your second reply, grain can be nice, and I wanted to get a "film" look on this shot...

Can't wait to have saved enough money for a 40D and experiment with 3200 ISO...
