Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hello all,
I have been taking several pictures across Okinawa,Japan and I am trying my best to learn the basics of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Editing seems to be my biggest challenge as I can not find the balance of colors or adjustment curve to enhance the image. The programs I have for picture editing are Photoscape and the Canon Digital Professional. I have attached to sample pictures I have beentrying to edit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-I also shoot all images in Manual with my Canon Rebel EOS 600D.

Hello,

Are you shooting RAW, and if so do you have a way to get us the RAW format?

LewnessMonster... those are JPEGs! You can't downsize a RAW file... you won't be able to post a RAW here! You will need to use Dropbox, or some other file sharing site to give us the RAW file.

I don't think we need the RAW files personally. But you do need to tell us what you are trying to accomplish with your editing!

On the first... White Balance is off due to being shot under incandescent lighting (it looks like incandescent anyway). In your RAW editor, you should be able to easily select another WB to correct the yellow tones.

On the second.. what are you after?? If you are trying to fix the blown out sky, it is toast. Your camera was unable to capture the full dynamic range of the shot... although you could have done an HDR with multiple exposures, and had a nice sky. The shot may be a touch green.. easily corrected also. You may want to buy LightRoom or Photoshop... much more functional with RAW files, and editing in general.

cgipson1 pretty much hit it on the head. I'm on Okinawa too. Where are you? Maybe we could meet up.

I spent a good amount of time on Okinawa while I was in the military, but wasn't into photography back then.

That's just one of the places I wish I had spent some time photographing.

Anyway, I was just going to mess with the photos a little and see what I could come up with, but really cgipson1 explained what I was thinking anyway.

I'm a mind reader? COOL! lol!

Your food shot has very little color info other than the color it is.... I could not correct it

Yea.. I took a stab at it also... but no dice. Can't make it look good!

The goal I was trying to achieve with these pictures was enhanced color and white balance. The errors I made seem to be all beginner mistakes which is getting to be a pain. I'll go out again this afternoon and change me technique. Thanks for the help.

So tell us how you shot these, and we can tell you HOW to shoot these! Or at least how not to!! :greenpbl:

Here are a few of the pictures I edited myself. The entire day was cloudy so I did my best with using Manual on my camera. I have been researching photoshop software and would like to know which version is the best for a beginner?
