One day till frost now and it's going to rain. So I picked the first basket this afternoon -- finished just as it started to drizzle. I estimate at least another basket full still out there.

We have our first frost forecasted for Wednesday. I’m sad, I have a tin of dahlia buds that are so close! I’m going to try the frost cloth but with 30* expected I’m not getting my hopes up.

Picked up a used wine fridge on marketplace to store some of my tubers in. Fingers crossed it works out.

Tomorrow night is forecast at 30 F. Here in the center of the city we might sneak by but the following three days are forecast for the mid 20s with Tuesday night at 23F -- no sneaking by on that. Tomorrow if I can dodge the rain I think I'll pick all the basil and thyme and maybe another batch of tomatoes.

We have re-bloomer Irises that are showing buds. It's a rare year when we get irises for Thanksgiving but it has happened. Maybe I'll try and cover those.

No gardening pics from me for a time, just moved so starting over. Although I did string the onions from this year.

In act of defiance, my tropical hibiscus popped a bloom, even after having been hit by a freeze. Shots taken with the Sigma f/2.8 17-50mm lens. I experimented with different setting. 2& 3 were taken as the sun got higher in the morning sky.

Only flowers open now are Camillas and pansies, the broccoli are starting to make heads. In a couple of weeks we should start getting fresh veg again.

I love this color on hibiscus! How nice to see this deep warm pink in December. :586: Nice shots of your defiant flower!

After 1/2 dozen hard frosts now!

We have some Irises in the backyard garden that are rebloomers. Typically after blooming in the Spring they'll bloom again in October. Well today is December 9th and this happened yesterday. Canon G7xmkII

This garden porn is killin' me. Till late spring, it's just incoming seed catalogs, cut flowers and forced flowering stuff at the supermarket<<pours another drink>>.

Given how mild it has been, the hibiscus has not given up trying. It is still producing flowers, but they are only getting to this point, and not opening up. The mums are in bloom as well. It's 62F as I type.

Poor hibiscus is just confused! This cycle of El Nino is apparently on the strong side, and we're not the only ones feeling it! I wonder if this means you won't get much from the plant during regular growing season.

That mum looks beautiful with the water drops!
